The National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) this morning donated assorted items to the National Cholera Task Force through the Ministry of Health towards the fight against the cholera epidemic.
The items donated included over 10,000 bottles of water purification chemicals, 10,000 face masks, 5,000 pairs of surgical gloves, 500 pairs of PVC gloves and 500 pairs of gumboots, all valued at K100,000.
Speaking during the donation at the Ministry of Health Headquarters in Lusaka, Mrs. Betty Meleki – Director Human Resources and Administration, who is also Chairperson of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee at NAPSA reiterated NAPSA’s commitment to supporting health as it was one of the key pillars of economic development.
“We recognize the importance of supporting health, because we know that it is one of the key pillars of economic development and affects everyone without exception. In addition, as the old adage goes, “a healthy nation is a productive nation”.
It is for this reason that we are delighted to collaborate with the ministry of health to help preserve human life,” she said.
Mrs. Meleki commended the effort and measures implemented by the government and other stakeholders, including private citizens in addressing the epidemic.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the task force, Hon. Sylvia Chalikosa, Minister in the Office of the Vice President, thanked NAPSA for the support that she said would go a long way in supplementing government’s effort in the fight against the epidemic.
Other Ministers present at the function were Hon. Chitalu Chilufya – Minister of Health and Hon. Vincent Mwale – Minister of Local Government.
